Emerge Virginia Program Assistant Job Announcement

Emerge Virginia is seeking a highly motivated, talented and dynamic individual to serve as a part-time Program Assistant.  This position can be performed remotely from anywhere in Virginia but requires you are able to travel to trainings and events when needed and have reliable computer and internet access.  The Program Assistant will report directly to the Executive Director.  The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:  assisting with details of the training training program; fundraising; alumnae engagement; data management and administrative support.

Responsibilities

Program

  • Organize and confirm logistics for program weekends, including location, hosts, food, trainers and paperwork

  • Staff weekends if needed

Fundraising

  • Process incoming donations and mail thank you notes

  • Assist with planning and logistics for fundraising events

  • Staff fundraising events as needed

  • Complete donor research

  • Assist alumnae committee with monthly sustaining donor program

Alumnae & Recruitment

  • Track alumnae campaigns, elected officials and board appointments

  • Update alumnae database and alumnae profiles on website

  • Work with alumnae committee to ensure alumnae are engaged with current class, informed of upcoming events and responsive to alumnae requests

  • Interview alumnae for social media profiles

  • Assist Executive Director in using volunteer resources to build the election database and continue outreach across the state

Communications

  • Manage website for updated and relevant content

  • Develop social media postings

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to Democratic ideals

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and with attention to detail

  • Ability to develop trusted and effective working relationships with diverse and multicultural constituencies, includings Board of Directors, staff, donors, volunteers and an array of program members, alumnae, supporters and stakeholders.  This includes the ability to handle confidential matters with a high degree of tact and discretion.

  • Paid or volunteer work on political campaigns a plus

  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends

  • Proficient with social media platforms, online document sharing and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).  NGPVAN knowledge a plus.

  • Access to an automobile for travel; reliable internet

Organization

Emerge Virginia is the premier training program for Democratic women who want to run for office.  In inspire women to run and we hone their skills to win.  We provide more than 70-hours of candidate training as well as a variety of shorter programs throughout the year.  Participants master public speaking, communications, fundraising, direct voter contact, social media and much more.  As a 527 organization, Emerge Virginia does not endorse or contribute to candidates nor do we train on issues.

Compensation

$1,250 monthly for 60 hours of work per month plus $100 monthly for mileage, cell phone, etc. to be paid twice a month as a part-time employee.
